Yes, we are fully covered for damages during the move and in transport. We do moving for many large corporate clients who transport highly sensitive and valuable equipment. Therefore, our coverage has to be of the highest standard.
What days are you available?
Unlike some moving companies, we work 7 days a week. We understand that sometimes moves can be limited to a specific time and date and we do our very best to accommodate all of our clients and customers.
Is there discounted days for moves in the middle of the month?
Our price for moving does not fluctuate throughout the month. We do our best to maintain fair and competitive pricing all year round. We believe that increasing pricing at the end of each month is not fair to our customers, so we offer the same great pricing throughout the year. That is why it is important to book as early as possible.
Are you open Sundays?
Yes, our moving company is open to take bookings and for all other services. Sometimes Sunday moves can even be a benefit for long distances as traffic is significantly reduced, ultimately decreasing the overall cost of the move.
How long will the move take?
The time it takes to complete a move depends on many factors. Some of those factors include:
Where the items are being moved from, and to. (Apartments, Walk-ups, Houses)
• How well prepared are the items? (Are they disassembled, are they well packed etc.)
What is the weather like that day? (Is it snowing, raining, or sunny)
Are the access points clear? (Often new homes have unfinished driveways)
How many individuals will be assisting in the move? (Sometimes friends and family members like to help, which may reduce the overall time.)
Where are the items being relocated? (Are they going across town, or right next door?)
And many other factors.
Fortunately, an SS&D representative can help determine how these factors will affect the time. They can also direct customers to our online blog articles which will help facilitate the move by giving great tips on reducing the overall time and cost.
Do we have to empty our drawers?
Typically drawers should be emptied. It helps in reducing the weight of the item, and maintains that the articles inside are not damaged. However, for lighter dressers which contain linens and non-breakables, it is often okay to keep those items inside.
Do you wrap our items?
Yes, we do our very best to balance out wrapping items with over wrapping items. Since we charge on an hourly rate, we do not want to spend needless hours overwrapping items which are already protected. Therefore, we will wrap all fragile items and ensure that they are well protected. However, if there are specific items of concern that an individual is worried about, we encourage them to inform our employees during the initial walk around prior to the start of the move. This way we can guarantee that the item is being moved according to our highest standards.
Do the employees cover the floors or take their shoes off?
Our employees are well equipped with materials that cover floors and stairs. Occasionally, clients are not concerned with floors so at the customer’s request our employees will proceed with the move without covering all floors in order to conserve time. However, we typically take it upon ourselves to cover the floors. We do not encourage our employees to take off their shoes as it can become a safety concern. However, in some circumstances this may be required.
Do you move long distances?
